Ch16: She was gone

Natalie's heart sank as she stepped out of the elevator and into the familiar hallway of her family's apartment building. Her steps were heavy, weighed down by the knowledge that her mother was gone.

The memories of the attack still lingered in her mind, and the image of her mother lying lifeless on the floor was etched into her memory.

As she walked towards her family's apartment, she noticed a crowd of people gathered outside. She could not help but wonder if the gathering had something to do with her family's tragedy. Her heart began to race, and she felt a sense of dread settle in the pit of her stomach.

Approaching the crowd, she could see that some of them were looking at her, pointing in her direction. For a moment, she froze, unsure of what to do. But then she heard a familiar voice calling out to her, and she turned to see her brother, Scott.

"Brother?" she called out, her voice shaking with emotion.
