“Want to be my kitchen helper? I could use the extra hands,” I asked, tickling his neck.

“Anything for you, Lola,” he twirls me to the song, and we start.

Damien helps by putting on some pots of water to boil, “You know the in-house chef can do all this,” he offers.

“But I like to cook and want to do it. Also, no one enjoys food more than you and Justine, so you should let me.”

That makes Damien happy as we kiss passionately, and he finally agrees. But his face shifts from a smile to a frown. That can’t be good.

“I do have something to tell you and hope it doesn’t sour your mood,” he says humbly.

Damien rests his forehead on mine, slowly caressing my face and being incredibly careful of my bruises. He sighs, pecking me one more time.

“Uh oh, what did he do this time?” I ask knowingly.

The conversation leads to Nathan’s attempt at finding me through Damien. Today, he’s called Justine’s firm repeatedly. Mia said the same thing about the diner. What is it with him and messing with
