Chapter 30

I sat on the edge of Master Abigor's bed nervously twiddling my thumbs as I avoided his gaze and tried my best to appear as calm as could be. He had called for me at the time of sunset and I made my way to his chambers.

"The wedding preparations are underway," he confidently mentioned as he walked around the bed, holding out a glass filled with wine and I accepted the glass, needing whatever it may be that may help me to not give anything away.

I would hate for Master Abigor to find out that I were a thief and prying around his private matters, "that is pleasant to hear," I responded dryly, struggling to articulate words as I avoided looking him in the eye.

His body was standing in front of me and I hoped that he would move away and not be so close to me. He placed a cold finger beneath my chin and I was forced to meet his eyes as he lifted my chin up.
