Chapter 2

The two boys were still conversing about the aliens and didn’t even notice Rainer leaving until he drove away. Rainer made his way across town to a richer neighborhood. Houses in this area were quite large and spectacular. At the end of the street was the largest of them all with a big plot of land up on top of a hill. He parked the car at the bottom in another house’s parking lot and walked on foot through the forest. Since the sun was still up, he was able to see the guards patrolling the forest and the house itself. They were armed with guns and a knife near the belt.

He quickly hid behind the closest tree, and surveyed the area. There were six guards in the back wearing bulletproof vests, with army-like attire under it, and a small metal fence around the perimeter. He tipped his knife to check it was there behind him, and tapped his gun on the side to ensure he still had it.

His mind began to think fast about how to approach the fight. "This should be an easy run. I just need something to distract them with. Then kill the closest one when he's ahead of me. Steal his equipment and make my way inside.” He picked up a tree branch from the ground and smiled a cunning smile.

He grabbed the spare gun and quietly moved towards the house. Rainer equipped the gun with a silencer and then threw the tree branch down the hill to attract the closest guard’s attention. One guard did fall for the distraction and walked towards the noise.

He passed the tree Rainer was hiding behind, Rainer quickly grabbed him and twisted his neck. Slowly, he lowered him to the ground, stripped him of his vest and the army-like attire under it. Due to his lean build compared to the bigger boned man, the clothes weren’t an exact fit but he tucked them in to make it look believable. Rainer covered his own face with a scarf and walked up the hill after hiding the body behind the tree. None of the other guards suspected him at all, and he joined their patrol successfully.

After avoiding the guards, he was able to enter the fence and make his way inside the house. It was a magnificent mansion, filled with rare paintings and artifacts. "Fancy place. I should grab some nice toys for the kiddos before I head back.” Rainer grabbed a vase near the door "This looks pretty expensive. I wonder how much it goes for.” He shrugged and put the vase back on the table, only for it to slip off the edge and shatter. “Oh crap.” he worryingly whispered to himself.

He waited, expecting someone to come running towards the sound, but nobody came. "That's weird. Usually, I would be swarmed by guards. What's going on here? Is it a trap?”

His intuition told him to turn right at the end of the hall, which led him to a door a few feet down. Silently, he opened it, and peeked through the small opening.

The television was on, and everyone’s eyes were glued to the screen. "Let's see, six guards plus the big fat blob in the center. I'm assuming he's the boss. Well, it doesn't matter, they're all going to be dead soon.”

These guards weren’t as well geared as the ones on the outside, they guards wore casual clothing. The boss in the center was wearing a sweat suit with writing on its back. It claimed him as king, and Rainer found it a little amusing that it was in glitter writing. Regardless, he sneaked inside and hid behind a bar counter in the back of the room.

The television volume increased and Rainer was able to make out what they were watching. "Of course, it's about aliens. I'm starting to get a bit annoyed that it's everywhere. Live in the real world for once.” He thought to himself.

Letting out a sigh, he unholstered his other gun silently. With both guns in hand, he stood up from behind the counter, took aim at the group, and began shooting. His aim was dead on, he managed to kill three of the guards before the others noticed. They turned around and began shooting in his direction. Rainer was already behind the counter waiting for a chance to resume his attack.

“You think you can kill me?” yelled the boss.

Gunfire stopped after a short while, the guards might have thought he was dead. The boss pointed to two of his guards, “You two, go check if he’s dead.” They peeked behind the counter. Rainer shot both in the head and ran out from the counter using one of their bodies as a shield.

He quickly disposed of the last guard. The boss backed up against the wall in fear, sweating from head to toe as Rainer walked up to him. Rainer tossed his spare gun to the side and held the hilt of his usual gun tightly.

“So, I guess you know why I’m here?” he asked calmly.

“You’re not going to make it out alive if you kill me.” said the man fearfully

“Is that so? I’ve been told I’m light on my feet. So, I’ll take my chances.” Rainer lifted his gun and noticed it felt a bit odd.

“I can make you rich! I’ll pay you more than whatever your employers are paying!” he begged.

“I don’t really care much for the money. If I don’t kill you, then someone else I know will suffer the consequences. So, you see, it’s just personal.” Rainer pulled the trigger and the bullet exited through the man’s skull.
