First, she didn’t reject him when he said he would treat her. Most girls he met would first decline politely but still go with him. Second, when he asked personal things, they would begin to divulge information. Anyway, he liked her character this way. Not only would she be able to protect herself, ‘him’(her self proclaimed brother) wouldn’t have to worry much about her.
