CHAPTER 60

Alex turned the engine of her bike off the moment she had turned and parked it by the alley outside at the back of the diner’s building late in the afternoon. She took off her helmet and shook her hair and then run a hand over it.

She pulled her phone out from her jacket and read a message that came from Damon, who a few hours ago had called her and informed her that he’ll be heading out the diner for a while. She sent him a message before dismounting on her bike. After making sure that it is secured, she walked towards the back entrance and pushed the metal door gently, immediately smelling freshly baked muffins from the kitchen.

“Hi, sweetheart!” Her aunt called out as she transferred the tray, she pulled out from the oven towards the cooling shelf. “Got some orders to be picked up tonight and made extra for you. It’s right over that counter.”

Alex smiled at her gratefully as she placed her helmet on the shelf near the door.
