OLIVIA

Just as the doctor had said - Dante had made a full recovery within a week, and I was immensely relieved.

I had been desperate to know what illness he had suffered from, but the doctor had refused to tell me, and Dante had been secretive whenever I had asked him. I knew that something was being kept from me, and I tried not to force him to tell me about it.

I was getting ready for the day, trying to put my hair into a knot, when one of the maids knocked on the door. "Are you almost done, ma'am Olivia?" she asked.

"Yes, just a few more minutes," I replied, hoping she would leave me to finish getting ready in peace. But instead, she said, "The Alpha is waiting for you."

My heart fluttered, and my hands trembled as I tried to finish tying my hair.

"Tell him I'll be there in a bit," I said, hoping I sounded more confident than I felt. The maid nodded and left, and I took a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves.
