Thank you for waiting, lovelies. 💖
ALTHEA. I took the glass of water that Thalia handed to me, drinking all of it once before we went out of the packhouse. We could have waited inside, but I didn’t want Soledad to step inside the packhouse. I knew if I opened my mind that if Soledad was alive and she was Blade’s mate, then she was just brought into this just as I was. But with the Beta couple claiming I would never bear this mark if she was also his mate. Someone was lying, and I didn’t want to believe it was Blade. Or was I being blinded by my love for him? All I knew was that this pack could only have one Luna, and if he insisted on letting her in, I would leave. I had no idea if I would be able to, but I would not share a roof with her. My heart thundered as the sound of an approaching vehicle roared in the air. Thalia was standing beside me, and as if she knew what I exactly needed, her hand took mine and clasped it with her hand, giving me the strength to face them. “I only have one Luna.” She said softly,
BETA DALTON.I kept quiet while the Alpha was driving toward the area where we had houses that we had reserved for special guests. We haven’t had any guests recently, but they were always kept warm and tidy, ready for occupancy any time of the day. The car was quiet. No one was speaking, but I could tell the female sitting beside the Alpha seemed agitated, probably because of my presence.Luna Althea’s revelation surprised me. Everything started to make sense — why Alpha Blade left us all of a sudden when he dreamed and took pride in being an Alpha. But nothing was more shocking than finding out the reason he left was back and alive. Something wasn’t adding up. Someone was lying, and I knew it was not my Alpha. My eyes darted to the front seat when I saw the female reach for the Alpha’s hand and entwine it with hers. I wanted to growl. I wanted to be possessive on behalf of my Luna, but I didn’t. Instead, I mindlink him. ‘I will tell the Luna everything I see.”I saw him swallow,
BETA DALTON. “Are you saying Soledad might be lying? But between the two of them, Althea is the witch.” Alpha Blade said. “Don’t put those thoughts in my head, Alpha. We both know Althea is not lying!” I snapped at him. He didn’t say anything, so I hit the brakes before I turned to face him. I was losing my patience already. “That girl was trying to move on without you! I was there when I picked her up on her first heat, and you appeared out of nowhere and marked her! And then what happened next? You took her home after she turned 19, and the next thing I knew, you were offering her a contract to be your Luna! You lured her to acknowledge this bond, only for you to turn around and tell her your first mate is alive! But where was she in the last six years? How did she endure the pain while you were intimate with the Luna because I am sure you did not just touch Althea once?” My voice was higher as I was fucking furious and frustrated at him. Blade had always been smart and could thi
BETA DALTON. I knew then that the hell I was talking about earlier had already risen on earth. ‘Alpha, tell him to stop!’ I mindlinked the Alpha because he was still slumped on the ground. ‘Let him.’ He replied. What the fuck was that answer? I growled before I sent him another message. ‘That demon will kill you!’ But he fucking ignored me. “Is Althea with you?” Alpha Blade asked him in a loud, booming voice. Instead of answering him, an airball hit the Alpha, and his body was pushed and dragged to the other side of the grounds. “No!” I yelled, trying to go around the fire, but there was no fucking way I would be able to go near it. I’d seen fire. I’d felt it, but this one in front of me was different. I could feel my skin melting even if I was still too far from it that I couldn’t take any steps closer. “Just tell me she’s safe, and you could do whatever the fuck you want with me.” He told King Lucius, and his voice sounded as if he were ready to give up and just fucking die.
ALTHEA. I heard a sound of footsteps following me, and I was hoping it was Gamma Aldrin. “One more fucking move and I will cut your throat!” Blade bellowed, and because of that, I was sure the man behind me was definitely the Gamma. I rolled my eyes when I heard no more footsteps following me. I turned around and placed my hands on my hips as I stared at my mate. Despite the anger in his voice, Blade looked lost. I wanted to clean the blood off his body and cuddle him to pacify him, but he needed a taste of his own medicine. I looked at Aldrin and motioned with my thumb. “Go to the parking lot and prepare a car. I’ll be there soon.” I didn’t wait for his reply and walked toward Blade. I was doing my best not to show weakness in front of him. I didn’t want to shout as well, as I didn’t want anyone to hear what I wanted to say. But coming closer might make me want to throw my arms around him, so I kept reminding myself not to give in. “Althea… Don’t leave me.” He said. “I ca
ALTHEA. I reached the floor where our room was, and the corridor was too silent. My heart began thudding loudly as I neared his suite. His door was left ajar. I wondered if I should go to his or mine. But if he broke the door between us, then it was of no use. But even before I could decide where to head, he was already by his door, looking at me. He looked better. There was no more blood on him, but he had some bruises and a patch on his head. I guess Rage couldn’t heal him too soon. Maybe because it was a demon that inflicted his wounds. “Where have you been?” He asked. “I will tell you later. I want to shower.” He opened his door wide and moved to the side, giving me space to come in. “Come here. I’ll prepare a bath for you.” I didn’t say anything and just walked past him to go inside his suite and walk to the main bedroom right away. He followed me and headed for the bathroom. I heard him open the tap and adjust the temperature. Blade would usually shower with just medi
ALTHEA. “And that love is the only reason I’m still here,” I added. Blade didn’t say anything, but his mouth crashed into mine. My arms around his neck tightened as my hands crawled to the back of his head, holding him tightly as I pressed him more into me. I kissed him fiercely, putting all my love and anger into our kisses. I felt my body swivel before we fell down on the mattress with me below him. I felt Blade’s full weight on me before he adjusted his position so he wouldn’t crush me. He was heavy, and yet it didn’t hurt me. I kept kissing him, taking what was rightfully mine. I didn’t want to think anymore about what his goddess was playing at by giving him two mates. She was not my goddess, but if it were my spirits that were telling me Blade was mine, then I believed them. If I needed Soledad out of the way to get Blade for myself, then I would do it. Besides, she was supposed to be dead already. So I wouldn’t feel guilty about it. “You’re mine, Althea!” Blade gro
ALTHEA. “No. Her house was quiet. But she left her home before three in the morning and came home after an hour.” Aldrin explained, and my brows hiked up. “Did you follow her? Where did she go?” “I was not the one watching her then. My man did follow her, but he lost her. He rounded the area but couldn’t find her, so he went back to where he was and saw her come back after an hour or so.” “Did she come here, Dalton?” “No. I have people stationed all around the packhouse, as you ordered. No one woke me up, and I checked with them earlier. There was no one here.” “Was she walking straight or in pain? Or?” I continued asking. “The warrior watching her didn’t say anything strange except that she went out in the middle of the night. He would have told me if she was having a hard time walking, but he didn’t. All he said was that she had a large cloak covering her body, and she looked around before proceeding to the nearest forest line.” “She went to the forest? And did she have any
