THE LIES AND THE TRUTH

"Why are you avoiding looking at me? Did I do something that upset you?" asked Hailey who looked annoyed with Nick.

Now, the smile on my face suddenly vanished. I don't think it's just a petty matter to be taken for granted.

Nick looked at me and asked. "Are you comfortable sitting here? We can find another place to eat!"

Damn! In as much as I'd like to exclude myself from their verbal fight, it seems I am trapped between two options I did not want.

I smiled. "The more the merrier! According to Sis, Sir Joseph is also coming to eat. It would be rude if we avoided our boss whom we never talked to!"

Nick just smiled bitterly as if he has no choice but to stay.

"It's okay Stella... if Nick is upset with me, you should stay with him. I seriously don't like to ruin your date. He might not enjoy his food because of me!"

Finally, Nick looked at Hailey and raised his voice. "What is the matter with you? If you want to eat on this table, then you may do so!"
