Cassy POV
I could not help feeling emotional at the scene.
I never had the chance to get to know Judge Kingston.
He was never present in Caleb’s life before, but I could feel his sincerity in wanting to make amends, and meeting the children was the first start.
I also could not entirely put the blame on his father. Caleb, as I understand, continuously refused to have any sort of relationship with his parents after they divorced.
Maybe it was his way of venting out his anger.
I don’t know. We hadn’t talked about it.
Nonetheless, it was a sight to witness! Judge Kingston looked dotingly at Oakley when she pulled away from the embrace.
“Daddy cried when he saw me at the airport, too.” Oakley volunteered.
I looked at Caleb whose ears were red when he heard wha
Cassy POVThe staff guided Rosalie Kingston Pierre to the chair directly opposite Caleb and me.Her gaze swept on me frostily. Her look made me feel a little stuffy inside. Caleb, all the while, kept stroking my ring finger with the rubber band as a quiet assurance. I watched as Mrs. Kingston placed her well-manicured hands atop the table, one after another, and pinned Caleb with a glare. “I thought you don’t want me near you. Why summon me here?” There was so much hurt in her voice that I remembered what Judge Kingston said to Oakley earlier. Rosalie loves her son. Caleb’s body became rigid. The hands that gripped mine hardened in tension. “If it were up to me, I do not want anything to do with you after the stunt you pulled, but my in-laws wanted this meeting,” Caleb explained and gestured to my parents. “What for? So, you can gloat?” Rosalie cast a frosty glare at my mother, who looked taken aback by the unexpected attack. My mother clung to my father’s hand, and her reacti
Cassy POVCaleb must have seen something in my expression because he looked frantic with worry. He came to me and lifted my chin with his hands.“It does not matter, okay.” He looked like he was trying to appeal to me.And it breaks my heart to see him like this.
Cassy POVMy eyes alternated like a ping pong ball from my brother to Caleb. Both looked quite shaken by what Rosalie Kingston revealed on this table.Who wouldn’t?Rosalie’s revelations were anchored on a deeply rooted hate for my family. At one point, I could understand her pain, but wallowing in anger for too long was her choice.
Amanda POVThe bed feels empty.Even with my eyes closed, I could feel the emptiness gripping my heart. It was something I could not control because it had become a part of my life for years.I should have gotten used to it by now.But no. The feeling intensified over the years. This feeling of discontent. This unhappiness. To assuage the feeling, I let my hands wander to the other side, trying to feel the body that gave me incomparable pleasure the night before. As usual, Ididn’t find anyone.Slowly, I let my eyes open.Disappointment slowly crept in.It had a
Amanda POVWhen we got off our high, I turned to him to ask languidly.“I thought you left for work?”Adam, since the day he kidnapped me at the airport, had been coming home to me every night. He spends the night and makes love to me without saying anything. By morning, he would leave. We didn’t get back. He never implied anything to clarify what was happening between us, but I was hoping and dreading it, at the same time.Instead of replying to my question, Adam grunted and rolled off from me. Then, he settled on his back.I watched him longingly and felt a pinprick of pain in my chest. So near, yet so far.Adam is like my moon. He was so near. I could almost touch him, but when I reached out my arms, he was unattainable. So far.Adam again rolled on the bed. Now, he was lying face down on the bed. His hand moved to my chest. I thought he would fondle my b*easts, bu
Adam POVAmanda looked catatonic with her unblinking eyes staring off into space.I snapped my finger in front of her face to get her attention. It did nothing to rouse her from the mental abyss she got stuck in.Seriously, Amanda looked shocked.“Hey,” I nudged her.
Adam POVI turned around after cutting the call with my assistant, Jared, and met Amanda's questioning gaze.I called my assistant to leave instructions for the pilot and to get the company's private helicopter ready for my trip with Amanda.“Where are we going?” She asked.I smiled, knowing she had been eavesdropping. She ignored my reaction and pretended she did not notice. She waited until I finally answered her question.“To Vegas. I am marrying you today.” I told her, gunning for the surprise. Then, I watched her face, gauging her reaction. She looked shookt. Now, it was my turn to pretend I did not see her reaction. I walked to her closet to take out a spare shirt, slacks, and underwear I kept there.I noticed that in a short time,
Amanda’s POVI am hurting him.I could see how hard he was trying to control himself. My reluctance to marry him hurts the man I loved with all my heart.I closed my eyes.I didn’t want to be scared, but so many questions nagged my brain. For years, I thought that I didn’t deserve to be happy. My condition prevented me from doing things normal girls would do at my age. Until we found the right donor.Imagine being given hope one minute and dashing it the next. That was how I felt when I found a heart donor in Margareth. Because her act of goodness, though it would extend my life – would mean cutting off the air from me.I had to leave Adam to fulfill Margareth’s wish.I had a chance to prolong my life at the cost o
