Chapter 28. Crashing through the Fire

"Ryn! Oh my! When the heck are you going to be this stubborn, huh? Do you have any idea how dangerous what you did was? God! You're so-what?" Lance peppered Ryn with his protests and suddenly stopped talking when he saw the girl signaling him to be quiet.

"Look around you!" commanded Ryn.

At that moment, Lance realized the situation. He turned around and saw that the place was deserted.

"Where are the people?" Lance questioned what Ryn had thought before.

"That's what I was trying to ask you," Ryn said.

The girl swung her legs, scanning the place for clues.

"Maybe they're in the basement," Lance said.

"I'll check it out," said Ryn.

"No!" Lance exclaimed, making Ryn turn to him. "We don't know what's going on. It would be better if we didn't split up. We'll check it out together," he added.

Ryn nodded. Lance's words made more sense, and they had no idea what dangers might threaten their lives.
