Chapter Twenty-Eight

On letting the words out, Seb took a deep exhale and rested his head on his lap. He remained in that position for a while in silence then later raised his head to look at Alex.

“You aren’t saying anything,” he said to Alex. “Why? You aren’t all that surprised, right?”

“No, it’s not that,” Alex spoke up for the first time in a while. A whole lot had been running through his mind ever since he came out to him and he had at least a dozen questions for him. “How long have you known you were you know, gay?”

“Pretty much since high school,” Seb replied. “Junior high, actually. Right since I was in elementary school and all the guys would talk about the girls they had crushes on, I never had a crush on any girl. I used to think there was just no girl in our grade I liked until I realized there was actually no girl I liked. It was always boys for me.”

“Oh,” Alex’s number of questions doubled. “If you’ve known since that long…why do you have a girlfriend now?”
