THREE

The song ‘Set Fire To The Rain’ in rock version, is blasting through every corner of the club. Breaking ears. But no one seems to mind. They are busy with their own business. Crowded dance floor. Horny teenagers doing God knows what on the very dark corner.

“Let’s get wasted!”

Bryan joined the dance floor after two shots of vodka. I thought I was the one who needs to unwind, but he is the most excited one.

“Go ahead, I’ll stay here in a bit!” I shouted as the music gets louder.

“Boo hoo! Party pooper!”

And that colleague of mine disappeared in the crowds. I’m physically and mentally drained because of work and Ayle. I don’t think I have any energy to jump on the dance floor.

“A tequila please!”

“My shift is over. I’ll ask my friend to assist you, Sir. Just give me a moment.”

The bartender earlier gave me a polite smile before disappearing to the door behind the counter. I nodded shortly and turned my attention back to the dance floor. I could see some of them are underage teenagers. How much is their salary to afford coming to this place? I’m an adult and have a steady job, yet still think twice before coming here. Its price is no joke.

“Here’s your drink.”

Call me dramatic, but everything was in slow motion as I turned around.

There, I saw her.

The blonde in clean white shirt and black trouser slid a glass of white coloured drink through the black marble counter. Her smile slowly turns into a smirk as we made eye contact.

“I didn’t know I get myself a stalker?”

I cleared my throat, “I’m sorry but I wasn’t following you. I just came here to unwind and we happened to meet.”

This blonde leans on the counter with her right palm propped below her chin. Still, with a smirk plastered on her blood red lips, she let out a low chuckle. “Yeah, talking about fate here.”

I’ve never thought I need Bryan and his big mouth to save me from this awkward situation. This girl keeps her gaze on me without saying anything. I want to ask how she is doing, but we aren’t that close to ask such questions. And being the awkward person I am, decided to keep my focus on this damn tequila.

“You should start a conversation, you know? Don’t let your hard work wasted.” She said in a playful manner.

My eyebrows creased. She doesn’t really think I stalk her, does she? “I told you, I wasn’t following you, Ms.”

Instead of replying, this girl suddenly pulled my collar. Her sudden movement shocked me that I stumbled on my seat. Our face is dangerously close. I could even smell her fresh minty breath. And her perfume. She smells like… lavender?

This is inappropriate but I can’t keep my eyes off of her plump lips. It looks soft. And plump. And mint. And soft. And, tasty…? Okay, this is the tequila talking. Let’s stop here before I kiss this stranger.

Her thumb brushes over my lower lips softly. And now, her index finger is slowly lifting up my chin. I’m captivated by those brown orbs. She can ask for anything and I’ll gladly do it in a heartbeat. And again, my eyes go down to her lips.

A kiss won’t hurt, right?

I tilted my head and move closer. And I swear, she does the same thing! When our lips were just an inch apart, she whispered…

“Stop trying to get into my pants and fuck off.”
