The sun was starting to set and before we knew it, there would be little to no light and finding Keira under this lake would be close to impossible. Not that it wasn’t already, and fuck, I hate myself for thinking that way.

I wanted to stay positive, but it was so goddamn hard when we’ve been out here frantically looking for any signs of her. I didn’t know how much I would loathe frozen lakes until today.

“I don’t see her, River! I don’t see her!” I heard my brother’s desperate cries as he was on his knees, pushing away the snow that had covered most of the lake.
