Mirabel:

I walked out of the pack house the next day and got into the car, ignited the engine and drove off to go see Henet.

I couldn't wait to hear what he had to say.

I had still not been able to get Selene off my mind. Her behavior lately has been a bit scary and I was worried about her.

No, I was worried about what she was doing too. Something was very fishy but I couldn't tell what. Henet would know. I'd have to talk to him about it as soon as I got there.

As I was driving, my phone rang, interrupting my reverie and I frowned as I checked the ID.

My heart skipped a beat when I saw that it was Noah calling.

Why was he calling me? I wondered with wide eyes.

I contemplated whether or not to pick up but decided against it.

I'd call him when I was done with Henet. I couldn't afford any distractions at this point.

I needed to be completely focused so as to get things in order. Noah was a distraction. A distraction I couldn't afford.

My phone continued to ring but I
