I was taken aback by her hug, I had not expected her to move forward and hug me tightly. I expected her to be mad at me for not keeping an eye on her and allowing that man to do those awful things to her, I expected her to be crying, yelling, and stopping me from comforting her but instead, she was the one who was comforting me.

How could she be so calm about everything that happened? How could she even manage to smile and have a proper conversation with me? Was she not traumatized by what had just happened? I concluded that maybe this was Ariana's coping mechanism.
