It was almost the end of the month. Alicia went to the office and dragged Calla outside.

"Where are we going?" Calla asked, puzzled.

"The list of retained employees has been announced. Let's go take a look," Alicia said urgently.

Calla replied, "You'll definitely get to stay."

Alicia turned around and saw Calla's dejected expression. So, she comforted her, "You've always done a good job. Maybe you'll get to stay as well."

"It'll be great if you get to stay. I'll be taking maternity leave soon anyway."

The company found out about her out-of-wedlock pregnancy. She was definitely getting laid off. Not to mention, the manager of the HR department was in a relationship with Peggy, who would never allow her to stay.
