41. Tonight is all about you
Adeline was confused. She didn't understand why Damien was doing all these things for her. What was the point?
"You know you don't have to impress me, right? You paid a lot of money for me so I'm already yours," Adeline laughed but there was no humor in her eyes.
Damien touched her cheek and grazed it with his thumb. His light blue eyes were dark. "I'm not going to treat you like property, Addie. I know you won't love me because you don't think I'm worth loving. I've made a lot of mistakes and I want to make things right if you would allow me. I want to start over and make new memories with you… good ones," he said and smiled.
Adeline didn't know what to think. She promised herself not to ever trust a man again since every time she did, she ended up hurt and she was tired of getting hurt.
"Then maybe you should start by calling me Selene because that's who I am now," Adeline said curtly.
