Chapter Seventy One

I feel the attention of everyone in the room turn to me and for a moment, I wish the ground would just open up and swallow me whole. I glance at Draaven from my peripheral vision and he doesn't seem to have any reaction. For some weird reason, I'm scared to look him in the eye. I swivel my seat to face the image that are being projected.

“Yes, detective”.

“We are aware that you were present on both occasions. Please can you tell us what you were doing in this locations each time?”. I want to speak at first but my throat is so unnecessarily dry that I can barely get a word. Out of everyone here, I only care about one person's opinions the most and he's the one person I can't bring myself to look in the eye. I clear my throat roughly and pretend to think.

“In the first case, I had gone to the children welfare centre with a team to oversee the activities and ensure that the children were actually being taken care of. My brother in-law would agree with me on that. We all went together

Bizarre. Did a chapter explaining the council visit get missed in your upload author? We sort of jumped over that interaction, back to them behind closed doors.
