Once they settled inside the cave, the panther was butchered by Ryan.

He went to get some strong tree branches, dug the ground around the fire pit and stuck the poles made from those branches into the ground. Thereafter, he made some more poles with sharpened tips, which he pierced through the meat before laying them across the fire he had made.

While he was doing that, Megan was also helping by cooking some canned beans and rice in a corner of the warm and cozy cave. While the food was cooking, Megan, who had held her curiosity at bay, decided to ask questions about the relationship between Ryan and her grandfather.
