Chap 48: Omen from a dream

Fidelia was startled awake by the loud ringing of the phone. Her forehead was drenched with sweat from a nightmare. In that horrifying dream was Declan's bloody face. No matter how hard she tried to walk toward him, she couldn't. Fidelia woke up exhausted. She ignored the phone that was still ringing; she looked around the house for Declan's figure. He still hasn't returned. She still cannot contact him. Fidelia had a premonition that something was wrong.

The phone continued to ring as if urging Fidelia. She glanced at the strange number flashing on the screen and finally answered.

"Fidelia, I'm Leonard."

Fidelia frowned as she heard Leonard's voice tremble. Fear began to invade her body.

"What happened to Declan….right?" Fidelia spoke in a shaky, interrupted voice. She tried to suppress the fear in her heart.

Several minutes had passed, and Leonard was still silent, making Fidelia's fear even more intense. She shouted: "Leonard, answer me!"
