11: Expecting the unexpected

A week later,

I open the door to leave for school and Ken stood before me. Startled, I frown at him. He had not informed me about his coming, so it indeed surprised me to see him.

“What are you doing here?”

“I came so we can walk to school together,” he beamed at me.

“You could have waited at your place. I always walk by every morning.” I point out.

He stuffs his hands into his pocket and stretches a little. “You’ve walked past without me noticing this past week. So I thought it best to come to your place instead.”

I would say I am avoiding him, more of trying to help him move on so that if anything happened to me, he would not be so broken-hearted about it.
