LUCAS POV

I watched as Allysa got into the car with Max, her expression as calm as anything. She wasn't even bothered about me or my presence and I found it disturbing. I drove Ariel away and down to the mall.

My mood was already sour but Ariel's face and presence made everything right. “So who's uncle Max?” I asked. At least I heard little kids rarely lie except they're scared, in that case it is normal for them to lie.

“Mummy's friend.” She replied innocently as we sat in a restaurant facing the mall. The owner of the restaurant must be the owner of the mall because it was so close to each other.

“Yeah I know he's mummy's friend, what other name can you call him?”

“Uncle Max of course, he comes to my school and he buys a lot of toys for me.” I chuckled. What was I expecting when I asked that question? She's just a kid and hasn't gotten that ability to know what's going on around her, who's good and who's bad.
