Chapter 52: Mentor

Cretheus' words kept me wild awake that night. This suddenly made me want to change my mind and would just drop out from the royal academy, but Thaddeus and Theodore already convinced me that I should continue until I graduated.

I should endure it since once the apprenticeship program was over, it would also be the time I would have to graduate from the royal academy.

"My fellow knights." I snapped back when Captain Jack grabbed our attention. "We have 59 apprentices in the first batch this year. The second batch will come to arrive next month." He consulted his clipboard momentarily before raising his gaze to meet ours, the assembly of future knights assembled on the sunlit field. "I require each of you to form pairs. Prepare to align yourselves accordingly as I announce your designated mentors."

A hand rose among the group. "Captain, as you said, we total 59. What about the odd one out? Should they be grouped with another pair to form a trio?"
