"Hey, I'm good. It's still early in the morning... are you okay?" I asked worried that something might've happened to him.

The outside was still dark when my phone buzzed with Ethan on the other line. I was instantly alert since we usually converse at normal humanly hours and six a.m. was not normal to our standards.

I got out of bed, leaving Brandon who was still sleeping. I didn't want to wake him up, knowing we stayed up quite late last night.

Walking out of the bedroom I decided to make a fresh batch of coffee while trying to find out what was happening to Ethan. He was still babbling about his weekend, but I've known him for years and I know when he was hiding something.
