Eighty One

“I need to work, too,” Amelia said. She was dressed in a pink button-down dress. She had woken up earlier that day because of the numerous duties at work; she wanted to relieve Mike’s work. Yet, Mike was the one stopping her from working now.

“What you need is rest?”

She frowned, “I’ve had enough rest. I slept all through the night. I need to help. We’ve a lot of things to do.”

Mike knew she was right, but he was scared. What if she started having strange fever again and he wasn’t there? He would be assured if she stayed here with her mother; that way, she could take care of her if anything happened to her.

“The doctor said you need more rest. I promise you’ll work later.”

Amelia stared at him in disbelief; she was pregnant, not sick. Anne stared at them with a smile that irritated Amelia for no reason. “Stop smiling at us, mum. Tell him I need to work.”
