59. Like Never Before

Nandini was in her own room. Today she didn’t go to Manik’s room. When he didn’t find her in his room, he came to her room and saw her in a simple night dress. She was sitting quietly thinking something deep. He gazed at her keenly and realised something was wrong. 

“What’s the matter, Nandini?”

She was startled for a while hearing his sudden voice. She composed herself and wore a fake smile on her face so that he didn’t have any idea of what she was thinking.

“Nothing. You here? Do you need anything?”

Manik frowned, looking at her. “Do I need to have a reason to come here?”

“I didn’t mean that.
