Chapter 42

Nathaniel sat in his office, still lost in thoughts about his plans for the future and the conversations he had just shared with Olivia. He was contemplating their contract's impending end and the uncertainty it would bring when his phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID and saw that it was his mother calling. His heart sank, fearing that she would want to ask about his wife and other things he wasn't prepared for.

Without wasting a moment, he answered the call, his voice filled with concern. "Mom, what's going on? Is everything okay?"

His mother's voice on the other end sounded anxious. "Nathaniel, it's your father. He's fallen ill, and it's quite serious. We're at the hospital now."

Nathaniel felt a wave of worry wash over him. His father had always been a pillar of strength in his life and he held the key to his future. "I'm on my way, Mom. Which hospital are you at? I'll book the next flight out."

His mother quickly provided him with the hospital's name and address. "Please hurry
