AN HOUR LATER

Eleanor's frustration mounted with each passing moment as she waited on the line, her patience wearing thin as she listened to the woman's pleas for calm. The incessant ringing in her ear served as a stark reminder of the countless attempts she had made to reach Mr. Smith, only to be met with silence or excuses.

“Ma’am, please calm down,” the woman on the other end of the call pleaded, her voice tinged with unease. “Mr. Smith is busy right now.”

Eleanor scoffed, her irritation bubbling to the surface as she resisted the urge to unleash her pent-up frustration on the hapless receptionist.
