Chapter 31 - Planning a hike

Maddox's point of view

Sariel asked me to sing. I don't know, but it's been a long time since I sang. I hesitated initially, but when I glanced into her almond-pleading eyes, parang hindi ko ata kayang tumanggi sa kanya. Kaya ayun, tinanong ko nalang siya kung anong kanta ang gusto niya. And she requested Too Sweet by Hozier, madali lang naman siyang kantahin.

If I relate her to the song "Too Sweet" I'm not sure whether she deserves a man like me. I can't promise to protect her, but I've already told her that I own her and that my world is dangerous for her. Yet, I don't think I can let her go. I don't want another man to own her; I want to own her for myself alone. I may be seductive to her, but I am also merciless, and I am afraid that I might hurt her in the future, and I can't protect her for myself. She's too good for me, and I hope I don't regret owning her, but if that happens, I'll deal with it later. Damn. I'm too far along to think about it just now. Did I overthink it?
