54. Fulfilling fantasies

Alexa watched the nurse open the liquid to be injected to her father, drawing it into the syringe through the needle before injecting his arm. She watched her carefully as she mixed the drugs before presenting them to her dad. Her ears itched to hear what the doctor was discussing with her brother, but she knew better than to interrupt.

“Is he going to get better?” She asked, watching her dad gulp down the drugs with the water.

“It is not in my power to say that, but, like the doctor said, he's improving.” The nurse tried to clear the little tension with a short forced laugh. But, she saw through that. The doctor said he was getting better, but she clearly didn't see any of that. He still looked the same, if not worse.
