The Letter

Kate arrived home from work, tired but happy to be back in her own space. She headed straight to the kitchen and started to prepare dinner, her mind still on the events of the day.

As she chopped vegetables, she heard footsteps approaching. She turned around and saw Sebastian standing in the doorway.

"Hey, sweetheart. How was your day?" she asked, a smile on her face.

Sebastian walked over to her and gave her a hug. "It was good, Mom. How was yours?" he asked, looking up at her with a curious expression.

"It was busy but good. I'm just glad to be home," Kate replied, ruffling Sebastian's hair.

Sebastian smiled and looked around the kitchen. "Can I help you with anything?" he asked, eager to be useful.

Kate chuckled. "Actually, yes. Can you set the table, please?" she asked, handing him a stack of plates.

Sebastian took the plates and headed to the dining room, his mind still focused on his plan to bring his parents back together.
