The piercing ring of Alexander's phone shattered the peaceful air in the room. Kate's eyes snapped open, and she watched as Alexander stirred from his slumber. But when he didn't reach for his phone, she sat up and shook him gently.

"Alexander, your phone is ringing," she said, her voice laced with urgency.

Alexander rubbed the sleep from his eyes and groggily asked, "What's going on?"
