Just then the doors open as the guys start to pile in. Mack sighed in relief and Tanner let out the breath he hadn’t realized he had been holding. “Damn, Boss, Mack and you need to get laid. You both on edge.” Meryl says as Tanner grabs him and slams him against the wall.
“You think this is a joke?” Tanner asked him. “Easy Alpha,” Philly said. Mack was shocked. He had never heard anyone call Tanner Alpha before. “I told you guys to be here ten minutes ago.” Tanner says looking from Meryl to Philly. “We just did a perimeter sweep. I tried to mind-link you, but you had us all blocked out.” Philly tells him. Tanner looks back at Meryl who nods before hitting the floor. He sucks in a huge breath as Tanner picks him up and apologizing. “We got a surprise for you.” Philly tells him. They walked into the other conference room where a man sat gagged and tied.
“Meet Link.” Philly says to M
“I agree that way you can keep an eye out for the other one. Plus, would make it harder if you had a traitor among the group. I don’t think we do, but after what I have witnessed twice with Shaba now, I’m not taking chances.” Mack said looking at Tanner. “Agreed.” Tanner says.“All clear up here.” Philly tells Tanner through the mind-link. “We got inbound for the next hour and a half. I’ll send you company check the distance.” Tanner says, opening the mind-link to Zale. “Zale, topside, Philly company binoculars and scope.” Tanner tells him. “On it Alpha, be there in 2, Philly.” Zale responds. “Bring some drinks.” Philly tells him.“You hungry?” Mack asked them. “We could eat.” Mason replies. “Conference room is this way. Tanner and I can take you to the front to get the keys.” Mack tells him. “We will wait for your guys before
“Now the hard part. If any of you are captured, mind-link and let us know. We will do what we can to try to get to you, but the rest of us will move forward with the plan. I don’t say this lightly and I hope it doesn’t happen, but if you are captured you probably will not come back alive. Shaba will torture you for information and will kill you afterwards. That is why you will be on a need to know basis from here on out the less you know, the longer you may be able to stay alive.” Mack says.“I have always been a fair man and Alpha.” Mason starts, “Which is why I am going to say this now. If any of you want to leave and go back home, now is the time to do so. I will not force any of you to take this risk.” One of his men in the back stood up and answered first.“Alpha if these two are a threat to their own children, and from what you all have just told us, then that makes them a threat to my own children. I am with
“Wait are you saying that you started the COPA pack? I thought they were just a rumor.” Mack asked. “I assure you they are real and I have their word that if we need them they will be there. Especially after they heard about Skylar’s coven.” Tanner says looking at Mack who was staring off in the distance somewhere. “You can pick you jaw up off the floor.” Tanner says.“I don’t know what to say. I am shocked, impressed, fascinated.” Mack says. “After my daughter took over the Copas I decided that I would make sure she always had an ally and so I started the pack you have been dealing with.” “That explains a lot. I still can’t get over that the Copas are real. Are the rumors real too? Did you all really take on the wolf mafia in Chicago?” Mack asked. “And won.” Tanner finished for him. “I am saying just that. When my daughter took over I left. Found some of
‘I can’t believe that I didn’t recognize the signs. Felan is blessed and I was too wrapped in the mess I created for myself to see it. I could have her and her powers at my disposal now if only I had my head out of my ass’. Josiah thought. The ride to meet Magi set them back by a day or two. The ride to Skylar’s coven would be very long. Josiah had tried to ring Skylar a few times, but got the same message every time. ‘The number you have reached is no longer in service, please check the number and try your call again.’ Shaba, and Josiah had no other option except to drive out to the last known address, Josiah had for her. They drove straight through only stopping for fuel and food. They still had another half day drive when their driver pulled over and saying. “Boss, I can’t go on an
“I don’t know what will happen if she is taken, but do so alive. Meryl you still have that tracking equipment on you?” Mason asked. “Never leave home without it.” He tells him. “See if you can plant one the vehicle. “On it, Alpha.” Meryl says. Nick was still asleep in the back when Meryl approached the vehicle. Derrick was keeping watch on Josiah and Mason’s men. Meryl designed the tracking device himself. He made so it was undetectable and couldn’t be found. He slowly opened the gas compartment and dropped it in the tank.“Tracker is on and working.” Meryl says through the mind-link. “Mack, maybe we should warn Skylar that Josiah and Shaba are close by.” Tanner says. “Already done.” Mack tells him. “Alpha, Shaba and Josiah and the third gentleman are the only ones. No body else has shown up.” Der
“Alpha Tanner, we may have a problem.” Philly said through the mind-link. “What’s up?” Tanner asked. “Shaba returned to the gas station. She pulled in just as we were pulling. I am going to double back to make sure she isn’t following us. Never mind. She and Josiah just pulled on the interstate headed in your direction.” Philly tells him. “Stand by one.” Tanner tells him. He informed Mack and Mason of what Philly just told him. “I know she knows Philly’s scent, from when my phone went missing, but why would she double back to the station?” He asked. “Maybe she left something behind.” Tanner says. “Or someone.” Mack says. “Mind-link Lincoln and find out if there was a third party with them.” “If I am recalling correctly there was a third in the backseat.” Mason told them. “Were there any other wolves there, before you left?” Tanner aske
“Damnit!” Josiah cursed. “The whole damn place is empty.” Nick said very calmly. “Well, no shit. We can all see that.” Josiah yells at him. “Mack, he warned them, we were coming.” Shaba says. “I told you we didn’t have the time to get Nick, and to pick him on the way back.” “Shut up.” Josiah. “We still have the grandchild card to play with Skylar and there is no better place for her to be than right in the middle of our enemies.” Shaba says. “I don’t understand how Mack beat us here and got everybody out so damn quickly.” Josiah says out loud. “Unless she was long gone from this place already.” Shaba says holding an envelope with Josiah’s name on it. “She left this for you.” Josiah took the letter from Shaba and stared at the envelope. The note was dated three years ago. “You going to read it?” Nick asked. “I already know what it says.” He replied as he looked at Shaba and said these words. “Don’t move. You are standing on a bomb.” “Fuck. If circumst
Josiah opened the door to the tool shed and walked in. The place looked like it had been cleaned out and cleaned to ensure nothing was left behind. He let out a heavy sigh as he scratched his head. He carefully walked around the outer edge of the interior looking for anything that would help him defuse the bombs. He almost didn’t find anything and gave up when his eyes spotted a crack in a seam along the floor, next to the work bench. The wouldn’t have noticed it, but it looked like someone tried to remove it in a hurry. He bent down to investigate further, when he spotted a switch underneath the work bench. He pressed it and the crack grew two inches bigger and revealed a small hidden cubby whole. Josiah jerked on the crack until it came off in his hand. Josiah appeared in the hole and there laid a single pair of rusty wire
