Kim is gone, and it’s all my fault.

Ruin says she was killed in retaliation to them contacting my father yesterday, but I know different. This is Mason, or whoever he is, showing he has the upper hand no matter what we do. I just wish I could see his fate so I can know what to do next.

I’m hurt, angry and disappointed in myself. What’s the point of having this power if I can’t use it to help those close to me?

“I thought you wanted me to rest more,” I say, and he chuckles.

“Yeah, but you’re not resting right now, are you? You’re wallowing,”

“I think I’m allowed to wallow, Ruin. My sister just died, give me time to grieve,” I snap.

“This isn’t grieving, dove. This is letting those responsible get away with it,” he says, and I feel a bubble of anger rise up in me.
