Chapter thirty

“45 cents please.” The cab man said to Carl, as soon as he pulled over, close to a hotel building.

Carl inserted his hand into his pocket, but couldn’t find any money to give. “Shit!” He cursed and stared at the rearview mirror to notice the cab man staring back at him.

“You lost?” The man asked as he stared at Carl with frustration on his face. His face contorted slightly with disgust and his lips trembled.

“I don’t have any money on me,” Carl told him, forcefully smiling at the man.

“What do you have on you?” The cab man asked him, but Carl shook his head in response.

“Nothing, just a piece of paper with an address on it.” He replied and noticed a visible vein on the man’s forehead.

“Whatever just get outta my car!” the man yelled at him, in anger, and began to slap his forehead in anger.

“Thanks,” Carl said and alighted the vehicle. He had barely walked from the vehicle when the car sped past him.
