Earlier at the ballroom, Madison had switched to a male partner and had begun to grace the floor with him. This was a big relief to her because at least now she wouldn't have to be around, for a while.

She didn't know the man she was dancing with but with his body build and stature, she could swear he was in his late fifties. His eyes brimmed with delight as they peered at her.
