Could it be that this person holding me hostage actually knew me personally?

I carefully crossed the expanse to inspect more and ensure I was alone before rushing to bolt the door and lock it securely with the key twice.

They say I’m safe but can waltz into my room anytime they like without any warning at all.

I shook my head in irritation and tried to keep from bolting out the door. I walked back silently and shut the door to the shower, all the while thinking of how to get out of this place. Perhaps it was a plan to distract and get me to be comfortable or feel less threatened than I should actually feel in this compromising situation.

I could agree that I had never reacted normally to situations such as this but did they think I was going to just jump on the bed set in the room and feel at home? Taken and separated from my children?
