Chapter 146

The woman stared blankly at Kirk, who stood nearby, and her eyes turned red again. She put her head down and ran away.

Caroline silently watched the woman run away.

"What's wrong?" Kirk had already finished his call. When he saw the employee running away, a sharp glint appeared in his eyes.

Caroline touched her face. "Do I look scary today?" Why had the woman cried after just a brief conversation with her?

Kirk lowered his head and carefully looked at the makeup on Caroline's face. After a moment, he smiled and kissed her lips. "Not at all. In fact, you look adorable."

Caroline pushed him away with a blush. "Cool it. Why did Dad call you?"

The smile on Kirk's face disappeared. He said, "I don't know. He said he'll explain after we head there."

"Let's go," Caroline said.

"Okay."

The two went to Ivan's home. As soon as they walked through the door, they saw Avery sitting on the couch with a pale face. There was still a red mark on her face, courtesy of Caroline's slap a few days
