"I know," she admitted on a sigh. "I'm just in a hurry most mornings and too busy all through the afternoons."

For a while, he watched her, opting to remain quiet. She went back to her food, maintaining proper table slash couch manners this time.

"How about a maid?"

She froze, rose her eyes to his, blinked, then smiled through the pasta in her mouth. When he just stared at her, her smile slowly died.

"You're serious?" She sputtered and hurriedly swallowed the pasta in her mouth.

He nodded.

"Brandon," she began, "I can't do that. I can't afford a maid right now," she ended, her tongue sneaking out to swipe at the sauce on her lower lip. "I'll be fine. I'll take better care from now on."

"Babe, it's not so obvious, but you've lost weight."

Butterflies danced around in her stomach. His gentleness with her caused her heart to skip a beat.

"Allow me to do this for you."

She instantly shook her head. "No. I'll be fine, you'll see."
