Chapter 35

After our meeting with the other packs’ leaders, the rogue attacks died down. They were fewer in number and lower in strength. Tyler and I began to relax, as did all of our pack members. On my morning stroll through the pack, I notice that the warriors on guard duty are slacking off. Many of them are sitting and chatting at their assigned posts. They are supposed to be watching the woods for any sign of an attack.

I continue my walk, now determined to see what the rest of the warriors are doing. The members of each post that I pass are relaxing and chatting, only glancing towards the woods occasionally. This is bad. How can our warriors protect the pack if they are not prepared for a fight and watching for danger? I make my way back to Tyler’s office.

“We need to talk,” I say, bursting through the door. I push it closed behind me and wince as it slams shut.

“What about?” Tyler asks.

“We need to tighten our security. I just walked past all of the guard posts
