"Austin hasn't come out of his room yet?" asked Kate as she sipped the hot tea Maria had made. Breakfast this morning was very, very different from usual. She was accompanied only by the servants who were always ready and waiting for her orders.

"Not yet, ma'am."

Kate nodded briefly. Her tail flicked over to Poppie who stood just around the corner, looking down as she wrung the hem of her dress. "How is it, Calysta?"

If it had to do with Calysta, then it was Poppie's responsibility. She quickly raised her gaze, looking at the owner of the house despite her nervousness.
