The message came in a day ago, but Jane couldn't give a definite answer to when they could meet. Despite that, a part of Jane's heart misses the gentle-hearted middle-aged woman. There are many things she can exchange because Jane considers Kate like her own mother. Their last meeting made Jane feel a pang of pain hearing what Kate shared with her.
Even though Kate didn't shed a single tear, her sadness couldn't disappear from her usually serene and warm gaze. Unfortunately, there was nothing Jane could do to alleviate Kate's sorrow even a bit. Jane wasn't sure if the distress had diminished or if it had intentionally disappeared without resolution.
Nevertheless, Jane had no right to inquire further. All she could do was offer encouragement and ask the woman to be even more patient.
"Are you daydreaming, Olive?" Nico asks while handing her a water bottle, which immediately makes Jane cringe a bit.<
