CHAPTER 4: DELECTABLE SECRETS

“Alex!” Michael shouted as he slammed his fist on the top of his office desk.

The morning didn’t start great, and the mistakes that his personal assistant, Alex, has been making are not making his mood any better. There was an important real estate project that he took, but Alex had no clue where the other files were. If his assistant will not be able to find it and present it during the meeting that was supposed to happen in less than an hour, he would lose the project.

“B-but, sir, I didn’t take it anywhere. I made sure that the file was placed in the vault, I closed the vault, and I even checked to make sure that the cameras were on. I have no idea why or how the footage was erased, nor do I know why the vault is open.” he explained fast as if his life depended on it. Michael was enraged.

“Alex, I swear to God,” he said in a cold and calm voice, but Michael’s piercing eyes made Alex feel like he was being stabbed with huge knives, “I will shoot you and throw you out of this building from the tenth floor if you can’t find those files.” he said.

“Calm down, people,” Alba barged in holding an ipad and went straight to Michael’s table between Michael and Alex, “Here is a footage from one of my hidden cameras that I placed near the vault.”

Alex showed the both of them a footage of a person wearing all black with a black mask. The person in the video was sneaking around the office a few minutes after Alex left, and she went straight to the cameras around the room. One by one, among the three, the person was able to erase all of the footage. Whoever the person was, he or she was good. The clothes made it impossible for any of them to identify whether the person was a man or a woman.

“That person knows the blind spots of the office,” Michael said as they carefully checked the way the person was able to avoid the cameras, and only a few places made her visible, the corners where there were extra cameras.

“Alba,” Michael called, “Make sure you fill this entire place with cameras. I want all of the blind spots to be secured. I don’t care if you have to put cameras in the bathrooms, so long as they don’t see the cubicles, and the employees are all aware.” Alba nodded.

“Also,” he proceeded, “Make sure you put extra bugs in every room. We need cameras in places where people can’t see them, and only you and I, Alba, will know their location. Do you understand me?”

“Loud and clear, boss, I’ll get right to it,” the head of security said with a determined and pissed off look on her beautiful face. It was at this time that Alba was determined to find who the thief was. She was the head of security, and she’d rather be dead than let this company fall because of her failure to protect it.

“Alex,” Michael called the attention of his assistant, “make sure you check every camera, and every recording within our floor and give them to Alba. I want the two of you to work together to make sure that this will never happen, the files will be found, and none of this matter would be out in public. We don't need anything to happen that could affect our clients and make us lose deals. Do you understand me? ”

The two of them nodded as they got to work. Michael saw how Alex's face changed from his normally goofy face, to a serious one that looks like he was ready to hunt down whoever it was in the video. Michael thought that maybe his assistant has finally snapped out of his idiotic character and would take the challenge of being a capable assistant.

“Alex,” Michael called him as Alba left the room, “I want you to focus on Veronica.”

“Ms. Veronica?” Asked Alex, “But I thought you said that she was a good secretary, sir.” he asked as he looked at his boss with a confused look on his face.

“She is a good secretary, Alex, but she’s an even better spy if she turns out to be working for other companies who wants me and our company to fall and go bankrupt,” he said bluntly, “I want every one of the new recruits from five years ago up until now within the entire city to be double checked by you. If you have time, give the files to Alba so she can quadruple check them too. I don’t want to miss any spies in my company.”

Alex nodded and left the room while Michael looked at his Assistant’s back as he left. Michael knew that he could never trust anyone completely, apart from the ones that he grew up with and trusted completely. The only people that he would trust with his life is the main circle of his mafia family.

“Hey, boss,” Veronica came into the room without a sound, and as Michael looked behind Veronica to the door, he saw the apologetic look on Alex’s face, and Michael just sighed as he gestured to his secretary, Veronica, to take a seat adjacent to him.

“What do you want, Veronica?” He asked as he took his seat. The woman just smirked and gracefully walked over to him and sat on his lap. Her tight skirt went up a few inches, and he knew by the feel of her bottom touching his leg.

“Boss, I think that you are too tired these past few days, and I just thought that I’d give you a quick massage today so you could relax,” she said as she began to press her hands on his chest until he was now completely laid back on his chair while she stood up and straddled him.

“I see that you still have no shame of how big of a slut you truly are, Veronica,” Michael said with a smirk on his face as he looked straight at his secretary’s eyes who had heat in their depths. He knows what she wants, and whether or not she’s the spy, he can’t deny that the woman was worth a tiny bit of his time.

“Alright then, slut, step away from the boss,” Michael and Veronica looked up at the door of the room as Alba barged inside the room with a stern look on her face as she was followed by two more women who looked like they were about to be deployed to war.

“Sorry, to disturb you, boss,” Alba exclaimed, but she did not even try to hide the fact that she wasn’t truly a bit apologetic, the apology was just her playing, “I’m afraid the sex doll has to go.” She said as the two women grabbed Veronica and pulled her away from Michael while he sat straighter without even paying attention to his struggling secretary behind him.

“You don’t even look like you’re sorry, Alba,” Michael said as he stood closer to his friend who wasn’t even giving him a single look. She was too busy focusing on the struggling Veronica behind them.

“What the fuck is wrong with you, you whore! Tell your good for nothing puppets to let go of me!” Veronica screamed when the women who were dragging her stopped walking as they reached Michael and Alba.

Michael looked at the woman, but in the corner of his eye, he could see that Alba raised her eyebrow and gave the struggling and infuriated woman a smirk. He knew that Alba was never a whore, and she hates being called one. She especially hates it when her men and women soldiers are being insulted and accused of disgusting things like being puppets. She was the head of his security, and she was also a cold-blooded assassin. However, Michael knew that she was a good person to the innocent, but a dreadful enemy to those whom she knows are fit to be killed or harmed for the sake of what’s right. It was twisted, but Michael lives by the same principle. They both know that they kill the bad for the good. Now, Veronica just made a jab at the woman that even he feared at times by insulting her and her soldiers.

For the first time, he felt sorry for Veronica, as he knows that Alba would never let Veronica forget the pain that she’ll experience from his head of security. Alba was a woman who took pride in using all she had to get to where she was without losing her dignity as a person and as a woman.

“Well, slut, I’m not a whore, but I can be the kind of bitch that can straighten out your disgusting attitude” Alba spoke with so much venom in her voice that Veronica’s face stared back at his friend with both anger and fear.

“Don’t worry, boss, I’ll handle this spy for you,” She said to Michael who just released a breath and nodded, “I’ll tell Alex to get you a new secretary.”

“Spy?!” Veronica screamed again after her initial shock, “What the hell are you talking about?! I am not a spy!” She said, but no one in the room was listening.

“Alba,” Michael called as her soldiers took Veronica out of the room, “I want to be the one who’ll choose my secretary. Make sure Alex starts a screening. I’d rather get a civilian whom I’ll have to train than an expert who could be a potential spy.”

Alba nodded as Michael rubbed the nape of his neck. It was a very exhausting day, and Veronica wasn’t even able to finish her duties before she was dragged away. Michael released a frustrated breath and reminded himself to call one of his business partners near his office. The woman was a dumb puppet of her father, but she was rich and delectable. He smiled at the thought of the woman. Ms. Scarlet was a perfect was for him to relax that night.
