Thirty One

Raven

My tears were endless, blinding my eyes and clouding my vision. They choked me, and I felt a nauseating sinking of despair.

I was nothing but a damn bastard, a misfortune, a doorstep child. It hurt so bad that I felt dizzy, and my thoughts spun. There was no explanation as to why my dad would hide something like this from me. It made me question everything I ever believed in.

My dad rushed in with a reddened face and a sheen of sweat on his forehead. He attempted to hug me, but I wiggled myself away from him, creating distance between us.

He looked down at me with an almost pained expression. "Baby, what's going on?"

"What's going on?" I yelled at the top of my lungs. "How dare you lie to me my whole life? So I have been a mistake all along."

"What the hell are you talking about?" He muttered hastily, moving closer to me.

I swallowed the anguish in my throat, and my grief sank even lower with tears running down my cheeks like a leaking faucet.
