Chapter Twenty-Nine: Animals in the Woods

"Wait, just wait a damned minute.”

Marko uttered partly to calm Alba but mostly himself, for he near tackled her when she stood to leave him.

“Let’s take it from the top, shall we?”

He asked, but her gaze was on anything but him.

“Alba? Before I release the command, I need you to promise not to leave.”

A scoff leaves her before she utters a wispy fine.

“Okay.”

He uttered, and her movements regained their flexibility.

Her turn to the forest’s path was sudden, so he prepared to leap after her; only a laugh burst from her lips at his reflexes.

“Got you!”

She uttered as her laughter filled the air and broke the tension in his being.

The beautiful sound of her laugh made his belly feel as if butterflies swarmed and flew carelessly within him.

The wild abandon of her face as her dark hair remained carried by the wind halted the air in his lungs as she threw her head back to laugh at her idea of a joke.

It is not funny that she kept him on his toes, yet, he wanted to capture the mome
