The enemy mate

The wolf bared its bloodied teeth, growling furiously. Ruben's rage intensified as he stared at the caged brown wolf.

Keith appeared at Ruben's side. He had slipped on a proffered T-shirt and track pants from shifting from wolf form and surveyed the scene.

“He is a rogue, Trent Piccolo. He is the leader of a small pack of outlaws. They had been on the council's radar a few years ago, but somehow they slipped through and disappeared.” 

As Keith narrated, Ruben kept his eyes fixed on the offending beast. He was recovering from the wounds, the damaged area healing as he watched. A frown crossed his face.

“Shift!” He commanded.

The wolf, even though weak, stared back in defiance. Silence greeted his words as everyone waited with bated breath.

“Shift right now, or I will make sure that you endure the most painful death.” Ruben stepped into the enclosure and kneeled. He placed his hand on the wolf's neck and
