Chapter 6: The contract

The Alpha King glares at me. A glare that could almost wreck my body if it was just powerful enough. Stepping back, I swallowed my saliva hard because I realized that was the stupid question I've asked so far. However, that wasn't stupid at all. It's my right to ask despite this man's presence.

“You won't like it when I am mad.”

Those words rang into my head. I can't help but shake my head. I shouldn't be scared of him but I can't let him hurt me.

“Why do you want me to be your wife? Why me, Alpha Ares?”

I looked at him deep into his eyes but the way he looked at me didn't say anything. It was just plain blank. Well, that's not shocking at all. 

“Isn't it clear to you yet?”

I gulped, and couldn't form a word.

“I saved your life, remember? So, you should be thankful that instead of killing you, I have offered you this. You have no idea how many girls want to become my wife and they have been begging me.”

He crossed his arms, so I raised my brows.

“Just so you know, Alpha… I am not interested in being your wife. But just like you said that you saved my life, do I have a choice?”

If it's not because of Alpha Ares and the things that he did for me, I would have ran away. Also, he's an Alpha King. I don't want to die. I don't want to run all my life because I'm so tired of it. My family and the pack I stay with doesn't want me anymore. I have no place to go. I was accused of killing Alpha Alexander, that asshole Alpha who betrayed me.

Just right after I talked to him, the Alpha King brought me into his office. I have no choice but to follow him there. As I walked down the hall, I couldn't help but be amazed by what I saw. Never did I imagine the Alpha King to be this rich. He was a total package and is literally worth fearing. 

“I prepared a document for the two of us. You have no choice but to sign it but I have to explain to you what I wanted.”

I secretly grit my teeth because he doesn't even dare to invite me to have a seat after we enter his office. Well, I shouldn't be surprised because he's the cold-blooded Alpha King after all.

Taking a deep breath, I lifted my head and looked at him deep into the eyes.

“You wanted me to be your wife, right? Don't tell me there's something else…”

My heart pounded when I realized that there might be another thing that the Alpha wanted from me. The way he smirked tells me that there really is.

“So, aside from being my wife… You should give me a son.”

I could feel my hands shaking, my heart pounding, and my sweat began to appear despite how cold his office is. Some of his words were like a bomb that blew into my face. Damn.

“G-Give you a son? That's too much for—”

Alpha Ares ran into my direction. He grabs my wrist and with that, I could feel my world has stopped moving in a moment.

“I am not allowing you to say no to this offer and you won't like it if I keep repeating my words. It's so irritating. You have no choice but to accept whatever I say. You got it?”

Scared that he might kill me, I nodded my head. Alpha Ares let go of me and returned to his chair, still facing me in my direction. 

“You will be my wife, you will give me a son, and that's worth your freedom. I will let you go once you fulfill our contract. You're free to do everything you want and I'll never stop you from doing that. But first, you have to do the job.” 

I gulped. I just can't imagine having kids with this Alpha King. He's a total wreck. I've heard a lot about him. He's a womanizer and I'm not ready to give myself to him. I just can't because I promise myself that I would only give this to the right man I deserve.

“No, I can't do that, Alpha Ares. I can't give you a son not even ready to give—”

He didn't let me speak.

“But you did agree on being my wife?”

I shook my head, hands were clenched as he mentioned those words to me.

“I will just pretend to be your wife and you're not going to touch me.”

Scared that I might pull back my words when I looked at him, I bowed my head down so there's no reason for me to back off. 

“What do you think the role of a wife is?”

I was stunned. I didn't expect that to come. Never did I imagine the role of a wife is, and I'm starting to lose hope. I started to pity myself. 

“Perhaps, do you want to die after what you did to my cousin?”

I bit my bottom lips because I could feel my tears about to fall. This is not the time for crying. I won't let this ruthless king see me crying, not even a single tear.

Scared that I might die for what they thought I did to Alexander, I don't have a choice. I have to agree to the deal with Alpha Ares in exchange for my life. Whether I like it or not, I have to be his wife and I will give him a son because after all, he would let me go if ever I fulfilled that. I just hope he doesn't have another deal because I am so done with it. 

“I guess, I don't have a choice. Just make sure that you're going to let me go once I fulfilled our deal, Alpha Ares. I don't want to grow old with the man I don't love.”

Ares just shook his head. He took the documents that he prepared for me and I don't bother to look at it. It's no use reading it. Alpha Ares knows what he's doing. He has his words and it's enough for me.

“You're not difficult to deal with after all.” 

I tilted my head to look at him. Alpha Ares was still smirking and it seemed to be meaningful. Damn.

“You have to make sure that you're going to fulfill your condition, Alpha Ares. I will hold on to that. I will just be your wife and once you have your child, I will leave this hell.”

The Alpha stood up from sitting on his chair to approach me. I felt like my legs were frozen while looking at him coming to me. It cannot be denied that Alpha Ares is really attractive. He has everything but no way I would fall for him. I just can't fall in love with a man like him who killed a lot. Besides, I've earned my lesson now. Alexander made me this and it's so hard to trust men again.

“Okay.”

I furrowed my brows for his response. Alpha Ares stopped when he was already an inch away from me. I just felt my heart pounding so fast by knowing that we were so close with each other.

“You're such a fool for not reading the other clause of the contract. I have added another agreement there. I can't believe it.”

He was shaking his head as if he really saw me as a fool. But what he just mentioned really scared me. I wondered what he put there that I missed. I took the document that I just signed a while ago and then my eyes widened.

No. No, that can't be!

“This is a joke, right?”
