Amelia

I was asleep when I realized I was trapped in a different reality the last time I remembered. It had no light and was a dark environment. I believed that I had passed away.

But my mind started to fill with something. It reminded me of my 12-year-old self.

Family members of my foster parents paid me a visit. My alleged new uncle arrived with his two sons and wife. Their ages ranged from sixteen to eighteen.

They all adored Zoey and showered her with presents. A part of me felt excluded, unseen in their midst. "Amelia dear, how rude of you to say hello to your uncle and your aunt." Dad gave a call. I looked at my mother, who faked a sly smile while shooting me a cold stare.

I approached them, grinning slightly and extending my pleasantries to both my aunt and my uncle. Even still, they did not extend a complete welcome. One of their sons, who I presumed to be the older, sneered at me, saying he had never liked me.
