I walked over to the door unsure of who was going to be behind it. Turns out Micheal can wake up early. He was leaning against the door frame, his hair hanging over his eyes as he looked down on me. “We need to talk” He was serious which only made me nervous. “Everything okay?” Lucas asked, walking over and placing his arm around my waist again. “I just need to talk to Astrid. Don’t worry, she’ll be fine.” He answered without looking away from me. “I worry for you, not her.” Lucas chuckled but let me go and pushed past Micheal. He turned around to look at me “I’ll get everyone up and we’ll start on breakfast for the troops. I’ll meet you there in a few minutes?” I nodded at him watching him until he was no longer in my line of sight. I turned to look at Micheal who seemed to have never taken his eyes off of me. I walked back into the room and sat on the bed. “What’s up?” I asked, genuinely curious. “I had that vision again, Astrid.” He said walking towards me, his voice low
My first opponent had a level 2 power, a little below the average, but with the right moves could be just as dangerous as a 3. He handled himself well, he blocked well and I could tell he was waiting for an opening to attack me. He would have to create one if he wanted to find one. He evaded my punches and kicks well. He eventually used his ability, shooting spikes from his arms. His aim was good, but the spikes were too slow. In the end I knocked him on his ass. He shook the dirt off himself and walked off upset. My next opponent was a level 4, so I prepared myself. He immediately turned his body into magma. I see why he got a rating of 4, but I wonder how well he fights or if he thinks he’s just untouchable because of his body. I went to punch him and he didn’t bother to move. I turned my fist into titanium right before striking him in the face. He wasn’t expecting that and was too slow to avoid it. It knocked him back a few feet, and you could clearly tell he hadn’t taken a punch
“I’ve got you, my love” he whispered into my ear as he draped my around his shoulders. He helped guide me home to the bathroom. We were both full of dirt and some blood from the times we were hurt. All our injuries had already healed, but we were still worn out. If only our stamina could heal as well. He helped me get undressed and put me in a nice hot bath that he drew up for me. He hopped in behind me. I laid my head back against his chest, closing my eyes and just listening to his heart beat. He grabbed the soap and helped wash my back gently massaging it as he did. He washed my hair for me as well. I let myself relax into him as he did. I loved moments like these with him. We’ve had so many years together, but I never tire of these moments. I never tire of him, he’s my reason for being. He’s what has helped me not lose my mind after so many years. It’s scary not knowing if you will ever die, knowing there is an infinite number of years left to live. I couldn’t ima
I was so tired from last night. I didn't want to get up early again and train again. I could still feel a tinge of last night's headache as I rubbed my temples. The light that came in through the window was tinted a light blue as the sun rose from the night sky. "Good morning" Lucas said, seeing my eyes open. "We got breakfast handled already, why don't you rest a little more?" He offered. I nodded knowing I would need that extra hour today. "I love you. Thank you" I told him, closing my eyes again. He planted a kiss on my head and I heard him leave and close the door behind him. I slept for that extra hour and it helped some but I could have honestly used like 4 more hours. I dragged myself off the bed and got dressed. I knew today would be more of a headache. We didn’t finish with the mental abilities yesterday so they were first up this morning. I wanted to curse myself for wanting to test everyone's ability but I really needed to know what we were working with. Ye
Jason I finally sat down after helping shuttle more specials to the tunnels. It was starting to get really crowded here and more specials were arriving by the day. I don’t think Astrid really thought about the amount of specials that would be coming to us. The tunnels were cramped, humid, and dim. They were definitely meant to be more of a temporary thing than a permanent one. I wasn’t sure what Astrid’s plan was, but I hoped that she would get it together soon.“Jason, you have a minute?” Liz was standing over me with a clipboard. Probably another problem for me to try to solve.“Yeah, for you I always have a minute. What can I do for you?” I smiled. Liz had become part of our inner circle in just a day.
JasonWe arrived back at the tunnels to everyone crowding around something. I couldn't tell what it was. I pushed my way past to get to the center and there she was. Her dark raven hair was pulled up into a high ponytail. She was wearing black combat boots with a pair of black satin pants and a black loose tank top. She had brought Lucas who was also sporting combat boots, although his were brown. He had tan loose pants and a white wifebeater. They had finally arrived. "I am truly sorry for the conditions in which you have been living these past couple of days. I should have done better and prepared better for you all. I will correct that today." Astrid addressed everyone. "If you entered the wrong portal and are wanting to fight please stay here with Lana. I shall create a portal here in the tunnels for you all to go to Mexico. For everyone else Lucas and I will be creating a better place for you to stay, but we will have to move from Spain as we need a larger undetectable area. Ple
Jason "How many powers do you really have?" I asked right off the bat. She smiled, as she started to pick at some grass. "I honestly have lost count. It changes every year or so. Sometimes it's something so small I don't notice it. I'd say a good hundred or so" she explained. A 'good hundred' ran around in my mind for a while. That 'good hundred' wasn't even an accurate number. "How do you have so many? Is it because of how old you are?" I wanted to understand how she came to be like this. "Partly" She said, picking a long blade of grass and tearing it in half down the middle. "When I first manifested I was 12 and I had one ability. Every year until I turned 28 I would get a new one. After that it would happen every other year, eventually every decade, or so. I think I get one every century now. I honestly am unsure anymore." She added throwing the pieces of grass she had torn. "What was that first ability?" Maybe that first one was what gave her the ability to have more? "Heal
Lucas I rushed into the tunnels, hoping maybe she was in there. I didn't figure she went back to Mexico without me. I needed to find her. I wanted, no I needed, to comfort her, to make her forget it all. I wanted to wrap her in my arms and never let go. I knew how much that memory hurts her, it's been a millenia and it still affects her so badly. These tunnels felt like a maze, and with every turn I made I felt like I would never find her. I was growing desperate and panic started to sink in. I took a right turn and saw a door slightly cracked in the distance. I ran towards it hoping maybe she would be in there. "Astrid" I called, as I pushed open the door only to find a girl with sandy blonde hair. She had her back turned to the door and quickly turned when she saw me. Her hazel eyes met mine in confusion. "Nope, not Astrid," she smiled. Her tone was calm even though I had just barged into her room. "I'm sorry" I could feel my cheeks flush with
